Answering Fantasy Fight League Questions
Thinking About Joining FFL?
Thinking about joining FFL but have a few questions? We're here to answer as many of them as we can for you. Here are some that we've been asked lately:Q: How does scoring work?A: For tournaments, wrestlers earn points for placing. So the most for first, less for second, less for third. Some tournaments, like NCAAs, we'll give points for lower finishes. For duals, scoring is a little different. Every wrestler who competes in a dual gets points, regardless of if they win or lose. Techs are the most points, followed by pins. We think it's more impressive to beat someone by 15 than to pin them. Majors get less than pins, wins by decision get less than majors. Wrestlers who lose by decision get fewer points than those who win by decision. Points descend from there: losses by major get less, losses by pin get less, losses by tech get the fewest.Q: Why wouldn't I start the favorites every time?A: You can't. For duals, you'll have the option to pick five starters. But your options are grouped by how the wrestlers are projected to do. So everyone who is a heavy favorite will be in one group and you'll have to pick a starter among them. Wrestlers who are projected to win by major or decision will be in another group - you've got to pick one. Wrestlers who are projected to lose badly will be in a group, so one of your starters will be an underdog. This adds a layer of strategy to the game. For tournaments, you'll have to pick a lower, middle and upperweight starter. There will be several projected champs in each group to choose from.Q: How much is it to play?A: It's $5 per month and you can play as many games as you want for that price. It's actually encouraged. There have been months where 100% of the users who played every game won a prize.Q: When does the "monthly" leaderboard start and end?A: There is a "month" tab, but the leaderboard runs from the last Monday of each month. So to find the current leaderboard for December, you'll select "date" and sort a custom date range from November 29th to December 26th.Q: How do I win a prize?A: There are two ways to win prizes - one by placing in the top 10 each month and another for winning the weekly leaderboard. To calculate the weekly leaderboard, sort a custom date from Monday to Monday. Your leaderboard points are the cumulation of every wrestler you've chosen to start. So if you start Gable Steveson at the CKLV and he scores 80 points for finishing first, your username gets 80 points.Q: How do we come up with our prizes?A: You tell us. Every month, our friends at Rudis donate a pair of shoes as a leaderboard prize. The other ten prizes generally change based on feedback we get from our subscribers or whatever we, as fans ourselves, think is cool.Q: Why should I invite my friends to play?A: The more subscribers we have, the more we'll be able to invest in prizes and the better the prizes will be each month.Q: Can I edit my teams after I've submitted them?A: No, once you've submitted your teams they're locked.
